Wade’s List of
Current & Upcoming Southern Maryland
(and beyond!)
Theatre Productions
I started this list as a Facebook post in the Summerstock Facebook group after attending a show at Toby's where the emcee encouraged everyone in the audience to support their local high school theatres, an idea that I wholeheartedly support. Eventually I moved the list to my personal page for easier sharing, and now I've moved it here.
Basically, this list is all of the theatrical productions I am aware of in Southern Maryland (St. Mary’s, Charles, and Calvert Counties), and other shows in Maryland, DC, and Virginia that I’m interested in seeing and think others may be as well. In no way is it intended to be exhaustive (except for school shows! I really try to list all I know of!). I only list the opening and closing dates for the shows (except for school shows with no online tickets). Use the links to find exact show dates and times, and to get your tickets.
If you know of other upcoming shows or see that I have incorrect information, please email me.
I keep finding mistakes/typos which are so annoying to this grammar nerd and perfectionist! If you see anything that doesn't make sense, let me know.
And now, without further ado . . . . .

Closest thing I've gotten to a review on here: Excellent production, great cast, creative/fresh direction by Jack O'Brien. I need to look at my souvenir brochure from the last tour which jack also directed to see if the set was the same because I was sitting closer this time and it does not look like what I remembered. But I definitely love this set.
Things I did not like:
Maria did not do the "ohh No, i'm late for vespers!" thing that she's supposed to do at the end of the title song.
HATE HATE HATE the new lyrics for "Something Good."
They cut the beautiful hilarious ending of the scene of Maria getting ready for the wedding with the nuns. They ended it as Sister Brigita (?) was going to the suitcase to get the mirror. No pulling the negligee out of the suitcase. No Mother Abbess telling Maria not to be vain and letting her compliment her beauty.
Thing I LOVED: the boys were revealed to have been under the bed the entire scene when they slid out from under it in opposite directions during the storm. Kurt was HILARIOUS lying on his side saying, "We wanted to make sure you weren't scared."
If anyone else goes, let me know what you think of the changes they made. Did I miss any?

Oh, you "can't" dance? DO IT ANYWAY! I had NO idea what I was doing, did almost everything WRONG, and had so much fun.
